Long Haul Spa recognises the delicate balance of our environment and global society and we have taken steps to ensure that we support the earth and maintain sustainable practises.
We also recognise the irony - that air travel is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gases. And we understand that there is no substitute - you’re not taking a boat, and Elon hasn’t created an electronic plane. Yet.
So with that in mind we have worked to create a product that is as environmentally and socially conscious as possible. We will continue to modify and iterate the product and the packaging, so if you have any thoughts on how we can do a better job, please let us know.
All of the Long Haul Spa products are crafted in New Zealand, and are vegan and cruelty free. All of our products have been thoroughly tested on willing humans (thank you all for your help!). The ingredients used in our products are ethically and sustainably sourced. All Long Haul spa products are paraben free and suitable for sensitive skin (but please patch test).
A couple of the Long Haul Spa products are produced in conjunction with Essence of Humanity and So They Can - supporting Satinwood, a children’s home in Miti Mingi Village in Nakuru, Kenya. There the children receive quality education, nutritious meals, medical care and are allowed to be children.
Our beautiful vegan toiletry bags are created by the iconic Australian bagmaker, Louenhide.
The cotton carry bag that your kit came in is hand crafted by weavers in the town of Chennimalai, a small town near Erode, Tamil Nadu, through Five P Ventures. Consciously choosing hand crafted over machine loomed keeps the weaving tradition alive and provides consistent and adequate compensation to weavers.
Our tiny blue BPA free bottles are supplied by Ant Packaging – the first Carbon Neutral plastics factory in Australia. We are all about reusing and recycling. The 15 ml bottles are recyclable, and all of our printing is done on certified sustainably sourced paper.
We have teamed up with One Tree Planted and for every Long Haul Spa kit that is purchased, one tree will be planted to help reforest the planet. This by no means offsets the entire carbon footprint of your long haul flight, but it is a start.
We are dedicated to ensuring that Long Haul Spa treads lightly on our earth and we are continually looking for ways to improve the sustainability of our brand and products. If you have any ideas on how we can do better, please let us know.
